Tel Aviv, Oct 22: In the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, it has been reported today, on the 16th day of the war, that Israel has intensified attacks on Hamas locations. According to reports, Israeli fighter jets carried out an airstrike on a mosque in the West Bank on Sunday morning. Israel has claimed that Hamas fighters were hiding there.
Israel said, the mosque was being used to plot terrorist attacks. It has been reported that Israel has carried out a second major air attack on the West Bank in recent days. According to Israel, fighters of Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad were living in the lower part of the Al-Ansar Mosque near the Jenin refugee camp. Bunkers were also built in the mosque.
According to the Palestine Administration, one person died in the attack on Al Ansar Mosque. Israel claims that many terrorists have been killed in this attack. These were the same people who recently attacked Israel. The Israeli Army has said in its statement that Hamas fighters were working on planning a terrorist attack from here.
The army has released images showing an entrance to a bunker beneath the mosque. A graphic has also been issued, indicating where the militants have stored weapons. It is reported that the Jenin refugee camp is a stronghold for Palestinian fighters.
In the footage of the air strike which is going viral on social media, a big hole is visible in the outer walls of the mosque. Debris is scattered around it. Palestinians have reached there and are taking stock of the place. The sound of ambulance sirens can be heard.
According to the Palestinian Red Crescent ambulance service, at least one Palestinian has died in the attack, and three others are injured. People staying in the camp have reported receiving warnings from Israel to evacuate, as the camp has become a hub for militants. Palestinian officials have stated that since the Hamas attack on October 7, Israel has been consistently launching airstrikes and rocket attacks on Gaza.
It has been reported that due to Israeli airstrikes on Thursday, 84 Palestinians were killed in the West Bank. The Israeli military had stated that it conducted a strike near a refugee camp in the city of Tulkarm. According to the Palestinians, at least 12 people were killed in this attack.
In the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine (Hamas), more than 5,000 people have lost their lives. Notably, Hamas launched a sudden terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, resulting in the deaths of over 1,400 Israeli citizens. Over 200 people have been taken hostage and held in Gaza. In Palestine, more than 3,500 people have also lost their lives.
