ISSF World Cup 2022: 10m air rifle women’s team bags India’s first gold

New Delhi, May 31: Elavenil Valarivan, Shreya Agarwal, and Ramita, members of the Indian women’s shooting squad, won gold in the 10m air rifle women’s team event at the ISSF World Cup 2022 in Baku on Tuesday.

This was India’s first medal at the ISSF World Cup, which is now taking place in Baku. In the gold medal final, India’s trio defeated Denmark 17-5. Elavenil Valarivan, a Tokyo Olympian, shot above 10 in all 11 series in the final.

The Indian trio had previously won qualification stage 1 with a score of 944.4, a 0.2-point advantage over South Korea.

Meanwhile, the men’s 10m air rifle team, which included Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil, Paarth Makhija, and Deaflympics champion Dhanush Srikanth, came up short in the bronze medal match, losing 16-10 to Croatia.
