Mumbai, April 28: After a lengthy wait and multiple delays, Disney finally revealed the official title of James Cameron’s Avatar sequel at CinemaCon 2022 in Las Vegas. At the ceremony, the developers also presented the first trailer for the highly-anticipated movie, now called as Avatar: The Way of Water.
“One of the strengths of Jim Cameron’s scripts is they are always universal and relatable themes that he weaves into them,” said producer Jon Landau.
“At the centre of each of the four sequels will be the Sully family. Each story will be a stand-alone and each will come to its own conclusion,” he added.
The Avatar: The Way of Water teaser will be shown exclusively in theatres alongside Benedict Cumberbatch’s Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which will be released next week.
The film features notable performances by Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, Giovanni Ribisi, and Kate Winslet. In abroad regions, the sci-fi adventure will be released on December 14, while in North America, it will be released on December 16.
