Jamshedpur, Sept 5: A 32-year-old youth is struggling for his life at the Tata Main Hospital after being shot at by two bike-borne criminals in Golmuri late last night.
Identified as Uday Chaudhury, the victim has sustained a bullet in his head and is presently undergoing treatment at the ICU of the hospital.
The gun-shot attack took place at about 11 pm while Uday, who also has a criminal background, was standing near Namda Bustee Kali Mandir in Golmuri.
As Uday was standing near the temple, probably waiting for someone, the attackers came on a bike and fired at him from close range and fled the scene, causing the victim to fall down. As the Golmuri thana was nearby, a police team arrived there and rushed the injured to the Tata Main Hospital where he was taken to the ICU immediately.
According to hospital sources, the injured was operated upon this morning, but his condition continues to be critical.
OC, Golmuri thana, Arvind Kumar said Uday, who is a resident of DS Flat area in Golmuri, was lodged in jail on the charges of launching an armed attack on some local goon six months ago and was released on bail a month ago only.
“We are yet to detect the attackers, but suspect the Sunday night attack must be a fallout of the firing committed by Uday in the past. As the gun-shot victim is not in a condition to speak, we are trying to find out a clue to the attackers by taking to the family members of the victim,” said Kumar while talking to lagatar24. com.
Sources in the Namda Bustee area, however revealed that the police have already identified the attackers and are trying to arrest them by conducting raids in their houses. They added that the attackers were the same with whom Uday had enmity and he had launched an armed attack six months ago.
