Jamshedpur, August 8: Mutilated bodies of a middle-aged couple were found inside their house in a densely-populated slum under the Telco thana area, triggering a sensation in the locality on Monday morning. The ghastly incident has taken place at Mandal Bustee in Manifit under the Telco thana area sometime past midnight.
A letter has been recovered from the crime scene that suggests the murders were committed by the victims’ teen-aged daughter.
The bodies were identified as that of Bhupendra Prasad (40) and his wife Sabita Devi (35). Daughter Neelam (15) who has left the note is missing.
Though it is a dense slum, no one in the neighbourhood could get to know when this all happened. In the morning, some neighbours noticed a trail of blood at the threshold of the closed door of the house and then the couple’s murder was discovered.
As the information about the twin murder spread like wildlife, Telco police station OC Ajay Kumar followed by City SP K Vijay Shankar reached the spot.
“It is a case of murders. But who did commit the murders and why is yet to be ascertained. Moreover, we have recovered a letter from the house and in the letter purportedly written by the victims’ daughter Neelam that she killed her parents,” said Ajay Kumar while talking to lagatar24.com.
The OC said as it is an initial stage of the investigation, they are presently not able to say anything conclusively about the killer.
“We are shifting the bodies to MGM medical college for postmortem and also pressing forensic experts for finding out fingerprints. We are also trying to trace Neelam who is missing,” said the police officer.
He pointed out the bodies were lying apart in the room, suggesting that the couple must have resisted the killer having a sharp-edged weapon in hand.
A beeline of local slum dwellers was found in front of the house of Bhupendra Prasad who used to work in a private firm.
“Everything was fine at the house of Bhupendra Prasad last night, but when did all this happen is beyond my imagination, ” observed one of the neighbours while talking to this correspondent.
