Jamshedpur: Jharkhand bags 48 medals to win East Zone Sport Climbing Championship

 Jamshedpur, July 21: The 24th IMF East Zone Sport Climbing Championship 2022 concluded on Wednesday. 

Organised by IMF East Zone Committee in association with Tata Steel Adventure Foundation, the three-day event saw the participation of more than 280 athletes and 50 officials. The winners qualified for the National Championship to be held from August 12 to 14 at Uttarkashi.

Jharkhand was declared the winner with candidates from TSAF outshining others. Out of a total of 54 medals, Jharkhand bagged 48. Avneesh Gupta, vice-president, Total Quality Management and Engineering & Projects, Tata Steel graced the closing function.

Addressing the budding athletes, Avneesh Gupta said, “I am overwhelmed to see such grand participation of athletes in the IMF Zonal championship. We aspire to support the holistic development of athletes to compete at national and international forums. Happy to see the performance of TSAF athletes in the event. Tata Steel is committed to providing all the support for the development of sport climbing in the country.”

The winners were given a certificate, medal, prize money and a gift hamper by the organizing Committee. Every candidate was given a certificate of participation.
