Jamshedpur, June 12: The police on Monday recovered 21 stolen mobile phones after arresting three thieves in the Birsanagar locality of the city on Monday.
Following the busting of the thieves’ gang, the residents of Birsanagar and adjoining Telco, as well as Sidhgora areas, will heave a sigh of relief as they were tired of the mobile phone thefts in the residential areas since the past month.
Those arrested were identified as Ajay Rabidas, Ajay Kumar Bhumij and Satrughna Rabidas.
Revealing the breakthrough, Additional Superintendent of Police, Sumit Kumar Agarwal told that the members of the gang would not snatch the mobile phones, but would steal them from the houses.
“The first incident of a mobile phone being stolen from a house in Birsanagar was reported on May 3. Subsequently, more and more FIRs were lodged regarding mobile phone theft from the same police station area. Then only we set up a team on the instruction of senior SP, Prabhat Kumar and finally the team succeeded in detecting the gang, ” said Agarwal while talking to the media at the Golmuri-based police office today.
According to police, as now the steel city is experiencing excessive heat, several residents tend to go upstairs for sleeping or keep the windows of the house open for better air circulation, the thieves had found it like a golden opportunity to steal mobile phones from the window.
