Jamshedpur, July 21: City-based National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML) organised a visit to the laboratory on Friday.
The program was organized under “Rashtriya Boudhik Sampada Mahotsav” a campaign under “Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav” and conducted under CSIR-Jigyasa Virtual Lab Integration Program.
The main objective of the program was to enhance scientific temperament among school students and also create awareness about intellectual property rights.
In all, 189 students and five teachers from Jamshedpur Public School, BPMHigh School and Kasidih High School visited the CSIR laboratory to attend the program.
An inaugural programme was arranged and the inaugural programme started with a welcome address delivered by Mita Tarafder, Head of the KRIT Division.
In her address, she briefly talked about CSIR and various research activities taken up by the laboratory.
She also discussed today’s IP awareness program under “Rashtriya Boudhik Sampada Mahotsav”.
Animesh Jana, Senior Scientist and PL CSIR Jigyasa Virtual Laboratory Project delivered a lecture on the CSIR-NML Jigyasa Program and the importance of scientific-social responsibility under the CSIR-Jigyasa Virtual Laboratory Project.
He described the different activities taken up by CSIR-NML in Jigyasa Program.
The program included visits to some research laboratories like AAC, Creep, Engineering workshops and museum, archives and library.
Students and teachers also participated in the lecture session on “Intellectual Property (IP) Rights-An awareness program for school students” organised by RPBD Division of CSIR-NML.
S.K. Pal, Chief Scientist & Head, RPBD Division, CSIR-NML addressed the school students and teachers.
The lecture session was followed by a Science Quiz. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and group Photographs by all participants.
