Chatra, July 20: A group of ten armed men identifying themselves as Maoists set ablaze an earth mover (JCB machine) in Tungun village of Lawalong block. The JCB belonged to contractor Shankar Sao who has taken the contract for the Tungun-Badhar road.

Sources said armed men reached the construction site on Wednesday at midnight setting ablaze the JCB machine. Sao said the road construction was going on under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojna. He said armed men came and burnt the JCB machine leaving the spot soon.

On getting information, Simaria subdivisional police officer Ashok Priyadarshi and Lawalong police station officer-in-charge Bambam Kumar Singh reached to the spot. Singh said they are probing from both angles, including Maoists and criminal involvement. He said those behind the incident will not be spared. “We will arrest the involved persons soon,” he added.
