Patna, Sept 3: Several weeks after Nitish Kumar’s party severed connections with the BJP in Bihar and left the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), five of the six Janata Dal (United) MLAs in Manipur joined with the BJP on Friday.

Shortly after this, BJP MP Sushil Modi took a jibe the chief minister of Bihar by declaring that states like Manipur and Arunachal had become “JD(U)-mukt.”

Khumukcham Singh, Ngursanglur Sanate, Achab Uddin, Thangjam Arun Kumar, and LM Khaute are among the JD(U) MLAs who switched to the BJP before the saffron party’s important national executive conference in Patna.

The Janata Dal United party of Nitish Kumar has suffered two setbacks in the past nine days.

On August 25, Teki Kaso, the lone JDU MLA in Arunachal Pradesh, switched to the BJP in the presence of JP Nadda, the party’s national president.

In the 2019 elections for the Arunachal Pradesh Assembly, Janata Dal United had won seven seats; however, six of its members eventually joined the BJP. On August 25, the lone MLA also switched to the saffron party.
