Patna: After the NDA’s historic landslide victory in the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections, JD(U) MP Sanjay Jha met Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday and said the alliance has accepted the people’s verdict with great humility.

‘These Five Years Are Dedicated To Bihar’s Youth’

Speaking after the meeting, Sanjay Jha said, “We have received a huge mandate. The entire NDA and JD(U) accept this mandate with humility. Our leader and the entire alliance will ensure that every promise made in the manifesto is fulfilled. These next five years are dedicated to the youth — we have pledged one crore jobs and employment opportunities.”

He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called on investors to come to Bihar, describing it as a proud and transformative moment for the state. “In 20 years, Nitish Kumar has laid a strong foundation. Now Bihar is ready for a leap. The next five years will see Bihar among the top 10 states in India,” Jha asserted.

Celebrations Across Patna As NDA Crosses 200 Seats

Outside the BJP headquarters in Patna, supporters celebrated the massive win by putting up banners reading “Tiger Abhi Zinda Hai” featuring Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The NDA registered a three-fourths majority, winning 202 of 243 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan could secure only 35. This marks the second time the NDA has crossed the 200-seat mark after its 206-seat victory in 2010.

Seat-Wise Breakup

Within the NDA:

  • BJP: 89 seats

  • JD(U): 85 seats

  • Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas): 19 seats

  • Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular): 5 seats

  • Rashtriya Lok Morcha: 4 seats

Among the opposition:

  • RJD: 25 seats

  • Congress: 6 seats

  • CPI(ML)(L): 2 seats

  • IIP: 1 seat

  • CPI(M): 1 seat

  • AIMIM: 5 seats

  • BSP: 1 seat

The elections were held in two phases on November 6 and 11, recording a historic 67.13% voter turnout, the highest since 1951. Women voters outnumbered men, with 71.6% turnout compared to 62.8% among male voters.
