Jharia police bust illicit liquor factory operating in public toilet, two held

Dhanbad  Jan 15: Police have busted an illicit liquor factory operating in a public toilet of Jharia Krishi Bazar Samiti under Jharia police station.  They have also taken two people in custody in this connection. A country made pistol has also been seized from their possession.

Several cartons packed with liquor bottles of English brands, raw spirit, punching machine and empty bottles of liquor have been seized from the factory.

Jharia police station inspector Pankaj Kumar Jha said English liquor has been seized in large quantity from the illicit liquor factory.

“Raid is under progress and action would be taken after completion of probe,” he told media persons this morning.

Official sources of Jharia police station said that on late evening of Friday, police had gone to seize PDS rice which was reportedly stored illegally in the Jharia Raj Group based Krishi Bazar Samiti. But during the raid, they found liquor bottles lying in front of a closed godown in Bazar Samiti. On suspicion. when the godown was opened, the illicit liquor factory was found operating in the public toilet.
However, the factory operator and staff managed to escape from the backdoor before police opened the closed godown.

Local people informed that this factory had been operating in the Krishi Bazar Samiti for a long time by a syndicate.

Earlier in 2019, the Jharia police had raided godowns of Bazar Samiti and seized liquor of worth Rs 40 lakh from the premises. After transfer of the then police officer, the illegal liquor manufacturing again started in the Samiti premises.

According to local residents, traders run Mandi in the day while at night, the liquor syndicate manufacture illicit liquor in the Samiti.
