Ranchi, Oct.5: A sleuth of the Anti-Corruption Bureau in Jharkhand today arrested a constable clerk Rakesh Kumar accepting Rs 20,000 to drop charges under section 307 of IPC.

The clerk is associated with circle inspector (Western Sadar Circle) Mohan Pandey whose office is on the campus of the Gonda police station.

When Pandey noticed Kumar being arrested, he allegedly escaped from his office.

ACB sources said out of Rs 20000, Rs 18500 was the share of Pandey and he has also been made an accused in the case.

Sharing details of the case, another ACB official said that Amit Gope, a resident of Pithoria, had registered an FIR against Rajendra Gope after some scuffle within the family.

The FIR was registered under various sections of IPC including 307 (attempt to murder). As 307 is a non-bailable section and for this, an accused is required to knock on the door of court for bail, accused Rajendra requested the circle inspector to drop the section during supervision to ensure his bail from the police station.

He also told the circle inspector that the nature of the injury was simple and he was implicated in a false case by his relatives who first assaulted him causing serious injury at the nose and then also registered a case alleging him of an attempt to murder.

‘As the circle inspector having an idea of the injury report, in this case, found the matter fit for dropping section during supervision he asked his clerk to accept Rs 20,000 as a bribe and the clerk did what was instructed,” an ACB source said.
