Ranchi, Oct 29: Kolkata-based businessman Amit Agrawal on Saturday moved a petition before the special PMLA court in Ranchi to allow him homemade food in the judicial custody.
A battery of advocates, including Shahbaz Akhtar pleaded before PMLA court judge Prabhat Kumar Sharma that Amit Agarwal has developed some digestive problems hence he should be allowed homemade food. But the special ED prosecutor Shivkumar Kaka said that Amit Agrawal should seek such permissions from the jail authority if homemade is permissible under the jail manual. The court fixed November 10 as the next date of hearing when the judicial custody period of Amit Agrawal will be over.
Amit Agrawal is currently lodged at the Birsa Munda Central jail after the Enforcement Directorate arrested him on October 7 in cash for PIL case. On Friday, he was taken to RIMS owing to stomach related problems.
He was arrested in the cash for PIL case. The ED booked him for giving bribe of Rs 50 lakh to Jharkhand High Court advocate Rajiv Kumar to get relief in shell company related PIL.
The ED also filed a prosecution complaint against him before the special PMLA court and he was made a prime accused along with Jharkhand High Court advocate Rajiv Kumar. He is considered close to the Hemant Soren government.
PMLA court reserves order on Prem Prakash bail petition
Meanwhile, the PMLA court reserved its order on the bail petition of Prem Prakash in the illegal stone mining case. The court would hear bail petition of Pankaj Mishra and Bacchu Yadav on November 9. Both are accused in the illegal stone mining case.
