Jharkhand Budget 2024-25: Only 57% Utilized, Remaining Allocation Poses Challenge

Ranchi: Jharkhand has spent just 56.89% of its allocated budget for the financial year 2024-25, leaving a significant portion yet to be utilized within the next two and a half months. The state’s total budget for the year amounts to ₹1,28,900 crore, of which ₹71,833 crorehas been spent so far.

Central and State Scheme Expenditure

•Central Schemes: The budget allocation for central schemes is ₹13,812.34 crore, but only ₹4,776.71 crore (34%) has been utilized.

•State Schemes: A total of ₹1,08,636.24 crore was allocated for state schemes, out of which ₹65,268.70 crore (60.08%) has been spent.

Approved Projects

So far, 2,789 projects across various departments have been approved, with a total sanction of ₹88,555 crore. Key allocations include:

•Women and Child Development: ₹16,253 crore

•Panchayati Raj: ₹1,285 crore

•Rural Development: ₹11,217 crore

•Agriculture: ₹2,309 crore

Department-wise Key Allocations

The following departments received significant allocations:

•Agriculture: ₹2,309 crore

•Energy: ₹9,363 crore

•Health: ₹46,885 crore

•Women and Child Development: ₹16,253 crore

•Primary Education: ₹8,605 crore

•Rural Works: ₹5,069 crore

•Public Works (Roads): ₹5,910 crore

•Water Resources: ₹3,820 crore

•Backward Classes Welfare: ₹3,038 crore

Challenges Ahead

Despite significant approvals and expenditures in some areas, managing the remaining budget in the short timeframe poses a logistical challenge. Departments will need to accelerate project implementation to utilize the allocated funds effectively.
