Dumka, April 27: Former chief minister and BJP leader Babulal Marandi came down heavily on the Chief Minister Hemant Soren in particular and the state government at large for allegedly indulging in corrupt practices at the cost of the well being of the common citizens.

Marandi was in Dumka on Wednesday when he addressed a public meeting near the old collectorate building here which was organised as part of the state BJP’s move to mobilise people against the indifference of the Soren government towards different burning issues including the deteriorating power supply situation elsewhere in the state.

“The way the new facts regarding the misuse of the office of the chief minister to fulfil his vested interests and those of his family members and aids, have been coming in he should either step down himself or be removed immediately,” Marandi said referring to the recent revelation of procurement of mining leases by CM, his wife and other family members including younger brother and Dumka MLA Basant Soren.

Marandi said that the Soren government did nothing for the welfare of tribals and other communities of the state but remained engaged in plundering the natural resources ever since it came to power.

“Santhal Pargana gave prominence to the Soren family where tribals and other sections of the society were generous enough to elect them all to the parliament and assembly. Yet there is no such instance of a single tribal being anyway benefitted by the Hemant Soren government.” Marandi remarked adding that they were working on the single agenda of filling their vaults by plundering minerals by misusing their authorities.

“It is open to one and all that over 250 truckloads of coal are being dispatched from abandoned coal mines of Nala area on daily basis apart from similar practices taking place in Shikaripara and Gopikandar areas of Dumka district under the patronage of the chief minister himself” Marandi alleged.

Similarly minerals like sand and stones, Marandi said were indiscriminately being exploited with Chief Minister’s political representative Pankaj Mishra and his press adviser Abhishek Kumar being the kingpins of the contraband activities.

Earlier, Marandi who was accompanied by Dumka BJP MP Sunil Soren, former minister Lois Marandi, senior party leaders including Abhay Kant Prasad, Vinod Sharma, Pintu Agrawal and others, led a march from Yagya Maidan to the venue of a public meeting.
