Ranchi, May 18: The Jharkhand unit of the Congress party has planned to make the younger generation aware of the spirit of the congress party which played a vital role in the war of independence.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Alamgir Alam informed this in a press conference organised at the party office on Wednesday.
Talking about its requirement, Alam said it is a must to counter the misleading information regarding Congress being spread in the society which grabbed power by giving false assurances.
Party’s state president Rajesh Thakur was also present on the occasion. He shared the decisions taken in the Nav Sankalp Shivir of the party that was organised from May 13 to 15 at Udaipur in Rajasthan.
Thakur said the party has planned nationwide agitation against price hikes and unemployment. Apart from this, he said, it has also planned ‘Bharat Jodo Andolan’ under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi to put a check on the rising conflict between people and stop Sri Lanka like situation in the country.
Thakur said that the party has planned regular communication with all sections of society and gets feedback on taking governance in the state.
Replying to a query regarding the claim of the Congress party on the Rajya Sabha seat, Thakur said last time UPA unit in Jharkhand has given the opportunity to JMM paving the path of victory of Shibu Soren and this time it is expected that the Congress will get a chance to send its candidate in the Rajya Sabha.
Asked about any choice in the party, Thakur did not name anyone saying it will be declared by the party’s national president Sonia Gandhi when the national general secretary will present names coming from the state before her after proper consideration.
Asked about the threat of the UPA government in the state, Alam said the organisation and government both are okay and there is no threat so far. He said Congress allied with JMM before pre-poll and election results came according to the aspiration of 3.25 crore people of the state.
On the controversies taking place on the issue of misuse of office, Thakur said it is being created to obstruct the process of development started during the UPA rule in Jharkhand.
On the defection case pending in the assembly, Thakur said that it was Marandi who found a similar case with BJP when he was a JVM leader and now fighting the same case when he is in BJP.
