Ranchi, June 22: The School Education and Literacy department is preparing to provide digital educational material to the teachers of government schools.

The Jharkhand Education Project Council is set to hire an agency for this, which will not only prepare digital educational material for five years but will also maintain and manage it for the said five years.

This agency will also be required to prepare a Content and Learning Management System, through which the educational development of true children can be assessed online. Here, the focus is on digital education in schools. Plans are to make books and other educational materials available in digital mode along with model questions.

Officials at JEPC said, “Textbooks prepared by the state government, books from NCERT and other educational material will be prepared digitally. Apart from this, audio and video educational material will be prepared in the form of multimedia. It will also be used in smart classes and ICT labs being set up in high schools of the state.”

“Keeping in mind the idea to help teachers, digital educational material will be prepared for them too. The educational material available to the children in the form of audio and video will serve as a complement to their textbooks,” they further added.

“The criterion for this is that the selected agency first does a benchmark study so that the state is sure that the project is of help to the students. Byjus Classes, Tic Tac Learn, Avanti Learning, etc among other options are to be studied. The kind of educational material children and teachers need will also be researched. The work of preparing digital educational material in the form of a library by the agency will be completed in six phases,” said State Project Director Kiran Kumari Pasi.

Video materials, audiobooks, e-books (digitised state curriculum books and additional materials), monthly/quarterly/annual magazines, interactive games, digital learning aids, question banks and model question papers etc are to be prepared for the students.

Notably, the state government has currently selected 2,271 topics to be developed digitally. Its list has been prepared. Separate educational material will be prepared for each particular child.
