Ranchi, Feb.14: Governor Ramesh Bais today asked officers and workers of HEC to save the 60-year plant like their 60-yr-old mother.

He said this during his visit to Forge and Foundry Plant (FFP) to inaugurate LPG-fired furnaces.

“If a mother becomes old in a family, then we all serve her. I hope that the officers and employees together will serve this 6-decade-old institution and save it like a mother,” he said.

He, on the occasion, said that major reasons behind the loss of PSU or Public Sector Undertaking are mismanagement due to which various types of challenges are not solved timely.

Saying this he said he will make every effort to save the H.E.C, which is considered the pride of the nation.

He said Jharkhand has minerals and natural beauty.

Observing unity of thought taking HEC, the Governor said: “There are many unions in the industry. I see that all the unions here have the same thinking about how to save HEC. I had only heard about this institute earlier and also saw it today. Modernization of machines is absolutely necessary to survive this era of competition,” he said.

Earlier HEC informed him that HEC has a work order of Rs 1700 crores. They also let the governor know the importance of HEC.

“HEC has contributed significantly to the establishment of Bokaro, Bhilai, and Durgapur Steel Plants. ISRO’s mobile launching pad has also been manufactured by HEC,” they said.

The officials also asked the governor to help HEC sell some of its lands.

“Out of 1000 acres of land available with HEC, 300 acres should be allowed to be sold so that HEC can be modernized with that amount. Bank guarantees were withdrawn by banks due to which there is trouble. HEC was given 7,199 acres of land out of which 2578 acres have been used, about 73 acres of land is under encroachment. Even today about 10,000 families are directly/indirectly connected with HEC. Permanent CMD in such a big institution. Failure to do so results in delay in decision making,” the officials said.
