Ranchi, Aug 11: Ahead of the crucial hearing, the Resident Commissioner of Jharkhand Mast Ram Meena has filed an interlocutory petition in the Supreme Court pertaining to two PILs namely 4290/21 and 727/22 which are set to be heard by the Supreme Court on August 12.
In the petition, Meena has stated that on the behalf of the state government he wants to bring some facts related to Jharkhand High court advocate Rajiv Kumar who was arrested by the Kolkata police on the evening of July 31 on the charge of extorting money from a Kolkata-based businessman Amit Agrawal in the name of the giving relief in the PIL 4290/21. He has also attached a news item related to the arrest of Rajiv Kumar. Referring to a news item and audio released by the Lagatar24.com the state has attached a transcript of a telephonic conversation of Rajiv Kumar with the said businessman.
The Supreme Court is set to hear the petition filed by the state government in which it has challenged the maintainability order passed by Jharkhand High Court in favour of the PILs.
Rajiv Kumar was the advocate of the petitioner Shiv Shankar Sharma. Both the PILs are primarily against Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
Mast Ram Meena has attached the copy of the FIR filed against Rajiv Kumar in Kolkata. Police claimed that it arrested Rajiv Kumar along with Rs 50 Lakh cash which he had extorted from Amit Agrawal.
Legal experts said an interlocutory petition has been filed to tell the Supreme Court that the advocate of these PILs has no credibility and he in connivence with the petitioner used to file such PILs to extort money.
