Ranchi, April 28: The Jharkhand High Court deferred hearing in the petition filed by Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel till May 5.

The development took place in the court of Justice SK Dwivedi after an advocate appearing on behalf of the actress sought time to file a counter-affidavit.

This case arose after one Ajay Kumar Singh filed a complaint against Ameesha Patel in 2017 alleging that the actress took Rs 2.5 crores from him to work for his film Desi Magic but she neither worked for the film nor returned the money.

Singh alleged that the actress also cheated him when he mounted pressure on her to return the money. He said that the actress gave him a cheque following pressure but it bounced.

As Patel came to know about the complaint case, she knocked on the door of the Jharkhand High Court to quash the case. After the matter reached the high court, an order prohibiting coercive action by the actress was given but final judgment in the matter is yet to come.
