Ranchi, Dec 5: The Jharkhand High Court on Tuesday stayed the trial in the Barharwa toll case. The order came from the bench of Justice Sanjay Dwivedi where a petition related to the case was listed for hearing.
Sambhu Bhagat, who had registered an FIR at Barharwa police station accusing minister Alamgir Alam and CM’s MLA representative Pankaj Mishra of assault and threats, had filed the petition.
Bhagat, a businessman whom Alam and Mishra had allegedly threatened during the tendering process for allotment of toll block in 2019, had filed the petition. He knocked on the door of the Jharkhand High Court demanding the intervention in the matter after knowing that police had given a clean chit to the accused.
The high court while directing the stay proceedings in a lower court in the matter also ordered ED to make ED one of the respondents in the case.
