Ranchi, March 28: Jharkhand secured a comprehensive win against Manipur to enter the quarterfinals of the 12th Junior National Women’s Hockey tournament. They defeated Manipur 14-0.
Jharkhand scored its first goal in nine minutes from a penalty corner with the help of Deepika Soreng. The team scored two goals in the first quarter, four goals in second, five goals in the third and three goals in the final quarter.
Deepika Soreng scored four goals (9th, 14th, 24th and 46th minute), Nikki Madam scored two (18th and 20th minute) Whereas Pramodani Lakra also scored two goals (35th and 37th minute). Elin Dungdung, Rajni Kerketta, Ellie Tirkey, Anjali Kerketta, Monika Nag and captain Deepti Kullu scored a goal each.
Manoj Konbegi, Vice President of Hockey Jharkhand congratulated the team for their fine performance.
“The team has been performing well in every match and with this win they have reached the quarterfinals. I hope the team performs exceedingly well in the quarters too,” he said.
Jharkhand will play the quarterfinals on March 31.
