Jharkhand players shine in Wako National Kickboxing Championship

Ranchi, Aug 23: The kickboxers from Jharkhand have brought glory to the state by winning one gold and two bronze in the recently concluded Wako National Kickboxing Championship held in Chennai from Aug 18 to 22.

Praveen Kumar of Ramgarh won the gold medal in the K1 Under 86Kg event whereas Apoorva Mukherjee and Ranjit Roy from Dhanbad won bronze in the Under 57 Kg weight category and the K1 Under 63.5Kg Weight Category respectively. A total of eight players from the state participated in the national championship.

The President of Jharkhand Amateur Sports Kickboxing Association BC Thakur congratulated the players. He said that the association is working hard to make a bright future for the players.

Jharkhand Kickboxing Association general secretary Bipul Mishra said that the players who won the Senior Nationals have been selected for the World Combat Games to be held in Riyadh and Asian Indoor Games which will be held in Thailand. The expenses will be borne by Wako India Kickboxing Federation.

Jharkhand Amateur Sports Kickboxing Association treasurer and Ranchi district secretary MD Ibrar Qureshi said that the selected player Praveen Kumar will participate in the National Kickboxing Training Camp which is starting from September 1 and will participate in the International Championships to be held next year.
