Jharkhand state sub-junior, junior chess championship from April 1

Dhanbad March 28:  21st Jharkhand state different age groups sub-junior and junior boys and girls chess championship will be held at Tata Chess Centre, JRD Tata Sports Complex Jamshedpur from April  1st to April 7.

Announcing the championship scheduled on Monday, Jharkhand Chess Association general secretary International Master (IM) Neeraj Kumar Mishra said that the state tournament is being organized for boys under-8, under-10, under-12, under-14 and under-18.

In seven days championship under-8 and under-12  groups matches would be played on April 1 and April 2. Two rounds match would be held on the first day ( April 1) Friday and three rounds on  Saturday (April 2).

Similarly, events for the under-10 years age group and under-14 years age group would kick start from April 3. Two rounds on April 3 ( Sunday) and four rounds on April 4 ( Monday) would be played.

The under-18  years’ age group championship would start on April 5. Two rounds would be played on April 5  ( Tuesday) and the remaining four rounds on April 6 ( Wednesday). The closing ceremony will be held on April 7 ( Thursday).

Jharkhand  Chess Association general secretary Neeraj  Kumar Mishra said that since players are to be selected for national championships, no player would be allowed to participate without an age certificate. “ The Association would not accept age certificate of the school of the player. “ The participant would have to submit a date of birth certificate registered within one year of birth of the child in the Municipality, Municipal Corporation, and Panchayat,” said Mishra.

Association officials said interested players would have to contact general secretary Neeraj Kumar Mishra,  chief arbiter Jayant Kumar Bhuuan and joint secretary Rajesh Kumar.

The top two players of each age category from the state will qualify as official entries for the All India National age group championship.
