Ranchi, June 5: After the summer vacation, government schools will open from Monday for classes one to eight. The class will be conducted as per the time from Monday. Meanwhile, the government has issued an order to take examinations for students from class one to seven from Monday itself.
Meanwhile, students might not have been informed yet as the order was issued on May 26, at a time when there was summer vacation in schools and panchayat elections were also being held. Along with this, most of the teachers were put on election duty, and the information about the examination could not be given to the children.
Now, however, students may be made to attend the exams on reaching the schools on Monday. It is also being said here that whenever there is any kind of holiday in the schools, then it is not possible to have 100 percent attendance within the next few days after reopening.
In such a situation, if the exam is taken, then several students will be deprived of taking the exam. Meanwhile, the marks obtained in this examination will be added to the annual examination. On the other hand, on the instructions of the DEOs, the question paper and answer sheet are to be made available in the Block Resource Center from Saturday.
The examination of classes 1 to 2 will be oral. Children will be allowed to answer in the regional language as well. The examination of classes three to seven will be taken in the form of Unit-1 and Unit-2. Three hours 15 minutes will be allotted for each subject for classes three to seven.
In this, the first one hour 30 minutes will be for Unit 1 and after a 15-minute break, Unit 2 will be conducted in one hour 30 minutes. Here unit one will be objective, while unit two will be subjective.
Meanwhile, Santosh Pal, the father of one of the children and a resident of Ashok Nagar said that the parents were not told of the examination. After the summer vacation is over, the children should have been given some time to prepare for the examination. Another parent, Shamim said, “The attendance of children is very less on the very first day, schools and education dept should have kept this in mind.”
Along with the parents, teachers are also upset with this decision of the state. Rekha Sinha, of Rajkiya Middle School, said that during the summer vacation, the teachers have to do many other things from filling out the U-DIS to the dress and scholarship, book distribution, and filling out the forms of the Chief Minister’s Scholarship Scheme. Along with this, this time, we were also made to do election work.
“Just like the government made a joke of summer vacation, now it wants to make fun of the evaluation examination of children in the same way. When the government can extend the academic session by 3 months to teach children, then what is the hurry,” she questioned.
Other teachers have claimed that they have put the exam-related information in the WhatsApp groups, however, not all children have mobiles. In such a situation, the information might not have reached them. With this, there is every possibility that 100 percent of the children will not be able to appear in the examination.
