Ranchi, Dec.14: Taking a leap towards data security, Jharkhand Agency for Promotion of Information Technology (JAPIT) is soon going to set up a state data centre recovery site on the public cloud.

Special secretary to information technology department Sarvesh Singhal informed this to Lagatar 24.com saying the tender for selection of service provider was floated today and if everything goes properly there will be a recovery site on the public cloud within three months.

Sharing the importance of recovery sites on public clouds, special secretary Singhal said: “Recovery sites on public clouds are cheaper. While the development of own recovery site needs an amount of Rs 150 crore to Rs 200 crore, recovery site on public cloud costs hardly Rs 4 to 5 crore. We can select an empanelled service provider.”

Asked about the present arrangement of getting data in case it is lost, he said: “Presently there are two back-ups with us. But this is just an arrangement. For proper backup, this initiative is being taken.”

Last date for submission of bids online for the service is December 22. The technical bid will be opened on December 23 at 3.30pm while the date for opening the commercial bid will be informed later. The bidder should compulsorily possess ISO 27001:2013 for the information security management system and ISO 9001:2015 for the quality management system.
