Ranchi, March 26: POCSO Act undertrial Amit Barla died during treatment at RIMS on Sunday. The said prisoner was treated in RIMS for about 3 months. On December 27, 2022, he was brought to RIMS for treatment on the recommendation of jail doctors after his health deteriorated in Birsa Munda Central Jail.
Amit was a resident of Kodakel village under the Murhu police station area of Khunti district. He was in jail under the POCSO Act 117/2021, case number-105/2021 in Dhurva police station, under the sections US/376/34 IPC & 08/12. The Jail Superintendent has written a letter to the Superintendent of RIMS, urging him to get the videography of the entire post-mortem process done.
