New Delhi, Jan 18: Congress spokesperson Deepika Pushkar Nath resigned on Tuesday, just days before the arrival in the union territory of the Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi, dealing a blow to the Congress.
Deepika Pushkar Nath announced her resignation from the Congress on Twitter, citing Choudhary Lal Singh’s inclusion in the Bharat Jodo Yatra as the reason.
She said that former minister Lal Singh was responsible for sabotaging the 2018 Kathua rape case and is allowed to join the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Nath said she is resigning on ideological grounds that I cannot share the party platform as Singh was responsible for Impairment the 2018 Kathua rape case by ‘brazenly defending’ the rapists of an eight-year-old nomadic girl.

Singh, a two-time MP and three-time MLA had switched from Congress to BJP and after several months before the fall of the government, Singh resigned from BJP.
His participation in a rally supporting the Kathua rape accused in January 2018. He defended the rally by making a statement that he was there to ‘defuse the situation’.
