Jammu, Dec.7: Mehbooba Mufti, the leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), stated on Tuesday that she will not run in any election in Jammu and Kashmir unless the state’s suspension of Article 370 is lifted. Mufti slammed the central government while praising former PM Atal Bihar Vajpayee.

“I have never seen a greater statesman than Vajpayee. He visited Pakistan twice. He knew dialogue is the way forward,” she said.

“But some days ago in Agra, when some youngsters cheered for the Pak cricket team during a match with India, not a single lawyer is ready to take their case….so it feels like Gandhi’s India is turning into Godse’s India,” Mufti said, citing the outrage after some young people cheered for Pakistan in the recent India-Pakistan match.

She said that citizens from India and Pakistan cheered for each other when Vajpayee was the face of the Bhartiya Janata Party.

“During Vajpayee ji’s tenure, I recall a cricket match between India and Pakistan in which Pakistanis cheered for India and Indians cheered for Pakistan. Pervez Musharraf, the former Pakistani president, also commended MS Dhoni, the Indian captain at the time “, she added.

Earlier on Monday, Mufti staged a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, with posters that said, “Kashmir is in Pain”.
