Ranchi, Dec.20: The Question hour on the third day of the winter session of the Jharkhand assembly could run for 20 minutes as BJP legislators disturbed the house on the issue of bungling in the JPSC preliminary test and mounted pressure on the assembly speaker to call the leader of the house (chief minister Hemant Soren) for his statement on the matter on the floor of the house.
The house, which had started at 11.08 am, was adjourned till 12.30pm at 11.28am after the speaker realized that he would not be able to run the house due to ruckus being created by the main opposition party of the state.
Before the house was adjourned, Bhawnathpur MLA Bhanu Pratap Shahi expressed his concern over the chief minister saying the JPSC candidates agitating for a probe into the issue of irregularities in the JPSC PT hired a crowd from outside. He also expressed his concern over the way agitators were lifted from the protest venue at midnight and then released following pressure from his party.
Chandankiyari MLA Amar Kumar Bouri and Silli MLA Sudesh Mahto were of the same opinion and wanted a statement from the chief minister on the issue of JPSC PT irregularities.
Amid the protest of BJP legislators in the house, two questions were taken. One question was related to minimum support for summer paddy raised by Sameer Mohanty while another was related to criteria of fixing economically weaker section (EWS) raised by Rajesh Kachhap.
Mohanty was in favour of giving MSP on summer crop in the same way it is being given on Kharif. He was justifying his demand saying producing crops in summer is tougher than producing Kharif crop. On which state agricultural minister Badal Patralekh said that a decision will be taken in the matter after proper consultation with the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP), which will make a decision on minimum support price.
In reply to the question of Rajesh Kacchap, who was of the opinion that present criteria of deciding EWS is not in favour of local forward class, parliamentary affairs minister Alamgir Alam said that criteria of being economically backward kept on changing and said that the decision taking the financial limit will be taken soon.
