New Delhi, Sept 26: Veteran Congressman and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Kamal Nath meet with Sonia Gandhi in Delhi to mediate the problem in Rajasthan.
Notably on Sunday, 82 MLAs in Rajasthan threatened to resign because they wanted Ashok Gehlot, the front-runner to become the next president of the Congress, to continue serving as chief minister. Rahul Gandhi ruled off the prospect, stating that the party will uphold the “One man, one post” principle.
The MLAs aim to prevent Gehlot’s bitter opponent Sachin Pilot and his 21 devoted lawmakers from holding the top position.
Meanwhile, Mallikarjuna Kharge and Ajay Maken, the central observers send to Jaipur to mediate the situation through one-on-one meetings with the MLAs, returned to Delhi today without having the opportunity to speak with any of the dissidents. They have all openly rebelled by refusing to communicate with the Central authorities, and most of them have returned to their districts for Navratras. According to the reports, they will submit their report to Sonia Gandhi today.
The MLAs assert that after the party’s internal election, they will meet individually with the Central leaders to discuss the Chief Ministership.
