New Delhi, Jan 18: The Bharat Rashtra Samiti, the party in power in Telangana, will hold its first public rally in the town of Khammam, on Wednesday. A number of prominent figures, including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, are expected to attend.
The BRS meeting will be attended by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, his colleague from Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, CPI General Secretary D Raja, and Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav.
The event will have political significance because it would be the first gathering in public since the TRS decided to become the BRS and because leaders from several opposition groups, including the BRS, Aam Admi Party (AAP), Samajwadi Party, and the Left, will be there.

Before travelling to Khammam, BRS President and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao will visit the lavishly restored Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple in Yadadri near Hyderabad with the visiting leaders.
They will be present during the second phase launch of the Telangana government’s ‘Kanti Velugu’ eye screening programme in Khammam, which is around 200 kilometres from Hyderabad.
Speaking after raising the pink BRS flag, Rao, popularly known as KCR, expressed his certainty that ‘the pink flag would fly high on the Red Fort one day’ if the Election Commission approved the name change of TRS to BRS in December 2022.
