Dehradun: The sacred gates of Kedarnath Dham will open on May 2 at 7 AM, as announced by Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee Chief Executive Officer Vijay Prasad Thapliyal on Wednesday. The Char Dham Yatra, which includes Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri, will commence with Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham opening on April 30, coinciding with Akshaya Tritiya, while Badrinath Dham will open on May 4. The auspicious date for Kedarnath Dham’s opening was determined on Maha Shivratri.
Special Pooja Conducted at Omkareshwar Temple
According to reports, religious scholars and Vedic priests performed a special pooja at Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath to determine the sacred dates. The event was attended by Kedarnath Temple’s chief priest Rawal Bhimashankar Ling, Kedarnath MLA Asha Nautiyal, temple committee officials, religious leaders, and hundreds of devotees.
Devotees Excited for Char Dham Yatra
Every year, millions of devotees visit Uttarakhand for the Char Dham Yatra. Kedarnath Dham is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, while Badrinath Dham is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham are believed to be the origin points of the sacred Ganga and Yamuna rivers. The Uttarakhand government and the temple committee are actively preparing for a smooth and organized pilgrimage.
