New Delhi, August 21: Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, ordered the suspension of a Delhi government official on Monday after he was charged with rape. He also asked his Chief Secretary to provide a report by 5 pm today.
The official was arrested for allegedly raping his deceased friend’s minor daughter for several months, which led to her being pregnant and as a result, the order was issued.
The Burari police station filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the official under the strict Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on August 13.
The child victim was allegedly sexually harassed, physically assaulted and raped repeatedly by the Delhi government official over a period of time between 2020 and 2021, according to Delhi Police.
According to Delhi Police, the girl admitted that the wife of the accused forced her into having an abortion after becoming pregnant.
The official is a Deputy Director for the Women and Child Development (WCD) Department of the Delhi Government and earlier today, DCW chief Swati Maliwal sent a notice to Delhi Police demanding his arrest.

After the death of her father, a government employee of the Delhi government, the girl allegedly moved in with the accused in Burari from October 2020 to February 2021.
“The girl started having anxiety bouts and was admitted to a hospital a week back. After extensive psychological counselling, she opened up to the doctors, counsellors and police officers and revealed that she was sexually harassed by the accused,” police said.
An inquiry into the incident is ongoing after the minor underwent a medico-legal examination.
