New Delhi, July 29: An IndiGo flight from Jorhat, Assam, to Kolkata was reportedly cancelled on Thursday, when the aircraft apparently ran off the runway while taking off and got two of its wheels trapped in the muddy outfield.
The airlines said that as the plane was taxiing for takeoff on the runway, its wheels drifted off the tarmac and became stuck in soft mud in a field next to the runway.
“IndiGo flight 6E-757 operating from Jorhat to Kolkata returned back to the bay. While taxiing out, the pilot was advised that one of the main wheels, had partially run over the grass adjacent to the taxiway,” IndiGo said.

An image of an airplane that appeared to have gone off the runway and one set of wheels become trapped in the soft outfield grass was posted on Twitter by a local journalist.
The trip was cancelled at 8:15 p.m., according to an AAI spokesman, because of a technical problem with the plane.
