Kolkata: Sanjay Roy, the primary accused in the brutal rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, has reportedly confessed to his crimes during a polygraph test conducted on Sunday. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) revealed that Roy admitted to visiting a red-light area with a friend just hours before committing the heinous crime, although he claimed he did not engage in sexual activity.
According to an India Today report, Roy also confessed to molesting another woman on the street prior to the crime. Additionally, he allegedly video-called his girlfriend and asked her to send nude photos.
On the night of the incident, Roy and his friend consumed alcohol before heading to the red-light district in Chetla, South Kolkata. During their journey, they allegedly molested a young woman. After returning to the hospital, Roy proceeded to the corridor near the seminar hall at 4:03 AM, where the tragic event unfolded.
Following the alleged rape and murder of the doctor, Roy reportedly visited the house of his friend, Anupam Dutta, who is a police officer, according to the India Today report. Meanwhile, a report from The Times of India indicated that Roy provided misleading responses during the polygraph test, which were flagged by the machine.
The CBI has also developed a psychoanalytic profile of Roy, revealing his severe addiction to pornography. Numerous pornographic clips were found on his phone, shedding light on his disturbed mental state. The victim, who had gone to the seminar hall to rest, suffered 25 external and internal injuries and was smothered to death.
The investigation has also extended to the ex-principal of RG Kar Medical College, Dr. Sandip Ghosh. The CBI subjected him to a polygraph test on Saturday, probing his involvement in the case. Last week, the Supreme Court questioned the Kolkata Police regarding the 12-hour delay in registering the FIR and expressed concern that Dr. Ghosh allegedly attempted to frame the rape and murder as a suicide.
In addition to these developments, the CBI is investigating financial irregularities involving Dr. Sandip Ghosh, further complicating the case.
