New Delhi, April 9: Indian shutter PV Sindhu was defeated in straight games by second seed An Seyoung of South Korea in the women’s singles semi-final of the Korea Open Badminton Championships 2022 held at the Palma Stadium on Saturday.

The World No. 4 South Korean shuttler got out to a flying start, gaining a 3-0 lead in the first game, and she never let two-time Olympic medalist Sindhu get close to her, winning the game by a comfortable margin of 21-14.

Former World Champion PV Sindhu took a 3-0 lead in the second game, similar to how her opponent did in the first, but the Korean won five consecutive points to take a 5-3 lead. It was a back-and-forth struggle until 9-9 when the local girl took four points in a row to grab a 13-9 lead and never looked back, as Sindhu dropped the second game 17-21.

PV Sindhu’s campaign came to a halt after she lost the semi-final match 14-21 17-21 in 49 minutes.
