New Delhi, June, 7: Six suspects have so far been detained for their suspected involvement in terrorist operations in India after searches carried out by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday at ten locations in Punjab and Haryana in connection with the Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF).
During the raids, some condemning items were also seized.
Arshdeep Singh Dala, a terrorist, and Manpreet Singh, aka Peeta, a close associate and runaway, were the targets of searches yesterday by the NIA.
“Several incriminating materials including digital devices were seized during the raids conducted as part of the NIA’s crackdown on ‘individual terrorists’ and terrorist outfits engaged in criminal/terrorist activities in India. A total of six persons have been so far arrested in the case,” the NIA statement said.
The investigation found that Dala and his associates—including Manpreet Peeta in the Philippines—are constantly enlisting new cadres in India to carry out the operations of the outlawed terrorist group Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF).
The statement also said, “They are raising funds for the organisation through extortion and other means, and carrying out smuggling of arms, ammunition and explosives from across the border”.
These searches were carried out by the NIA in relation to a criminal plot to generate money for the Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF), a terrorist group that has been outlawed, so that it may engage in terrorism.
A suo moto case had already been filed by the NIA on August 20 of last year in accordance with various provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
