Patna, Aug 24: RJD leader Lalu Yadav was declared innocent on Wednesday in the case involving a violation of the 2015 election code due to a lack of proof.
The RJD supremo called for Yadavs and other backward castes to support the secular alliance in order to defeat the BJP-led NDA when he launched his campaign for his younger son Tejashwi Yadav in Raghopur in 2015. He described the Assembly election as a direct battle between ‘the backward castes and forward castes’ and called on them to support the alliance.
Lalu Prasad was the subject of a FIR after allegedly making a casteist remark that the Election Commission found to be unlawful. Later, the RJD leader received a notice from the Election Commission for breaking the election code.
On Wednesday, Lalu Yadav was acquitted by Hajipur court in the case over lack of evidence.
