New Delhi, March 16: Tejashwi Yadav, the deputy chief minister of Bihar, informed the Delhi High Court on Thursday that he will appear before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for interrogation on March 25 at the CBI’s headquarters in Delhi in relation to the alleged land-for-jobs scandal.

The statement was recorded by Judge Dinesh Kumar Sharma, who also stated that Yadav will not be arrested by the CBI this month. Yadav’s appeal against the summons the CBI had issued for him to appear for interrogation over the fraud was being heard by the court.

Senior Attorney Maninder Singh, who was representing Yadav, emphasised throughout the hearing that the budget session of the Bihar assembly was going on. Moreover, he claimed that the CBI raids had an adverse effect on his pregnant wife.

The Court then recommended that Yadav be contacted by the CBI on April 5 once the budget session has ended.

Yadav might appear in court on any Saturday, according to CBI’s attorney DP Singh, who informed the court that the chargesheet was ready. He reassured the Court that Yadav will not be detained in response to Yadav’s concern about being arrested.

Yadav has received three notices from the CBI so far. He has yet to show up for questioning, though. The notices are dated February 28, March 4 and March 11.

When Lalu Prasad served as the Union Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009, allegations of appointments in the railway industry made in exchange for land given to his family were the subject of the lawsuit.
