New Delhi, March 15: RJD Chief Lalu Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi and 14 others reached a Delhi Court on Wednesday in connection with a case related to the land-for-jobs scam.

Lalu Yadav, his wife Rabri and daughter Misa Bharti were seen arriving at Rouse Avenue court on Wednesday morning.

The case pertains to alleged appointments made in the railways in return for land parcels gifted or sold to Prasad’s family when he was the union railway minister between 2004 and 2009.

In its chargesheet, the CBI alleged that irregular appointments were made in the railways, violating the laid down norms and procedures of Indian Railways for recruitment.

It also alleged that the candidates directly or through their immediate relatives and family members sold land to the family members of RJD Chief Lalu Prasad, then railway minister, at steep discount rates of up to one-fifth of the prevailing market rates.

Notably, the CBI closed the case against Yadav and his family members in 2021 after ‘no concrete evidence was found that could prove the allegations.’ However, in December last year, the probe again reopened the corruption cases against the former chief minister.

Earlier on March 11, the Enforcement Directorate conducted raids against the family in connection with the investigation into the railways’ land-for-job money laundering case.
