Lathicharge on students: NCPCR seeks report from DC

Ranchi, Aug.7: National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) today took cognizance in the matter of the use of cane by the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) on juveniles, including boys and girls agitating peacefully on the academic matter in Dhanbad.

The children’s right body, exercising its power under section 13 (i)  (J) of CPCR 2005 took the cognizance of the information through Twitter and other social media.

Taking cognizance, the children’s right body has sought a report from the district administration within three days. The NCPCR has directed the deputy commissioner to include statements of juveniles and other relevant documents in the matter.

Meanwhile, the BJP has taken serious note of the matter and a team of the party from Ranchi comprising Ranchi MLA C.P.Singh, state general secretary Aditya Sahu, Pradeep Verma and MLA Amar Kumar Bauri will visit Dhanbad to conduct a detailed probe into the matter.
