Mumbai: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar (66) tragically lost his life in a private plane crash in Baramati on Wednesday. The incident, which claimed the lives of all five passengers on board, has sent shockwaves through India’s political landscape.
National Leaders Express Condolences
President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and other prominent leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Giriraj Singh, Eknath Shinde, Devendra Fadnavis, Priyanka Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, and Akhilesh Yadav expressed grief over the untimely demise of Ajit Pawar. PM Modi and Rahul Gandhi described the loss as a deep blow to Maharashtra’s political world.
Baramati MP and his sister Supriya Sule, along with senior NCP leader Sharad Pawar, have left for Baramati. CM Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis also announced their departure to the crash site.
Crash Details and Aftermath
Ajit Pawar was travelling from Mumbai to Baramati for campaigning related to the district council and panchayat elections. Sources indicate that the private aircraft lost control during landing, leading to a catastrophic crash. The impact caused an explosion in the fuel tank, engulfing the plane in flames.
All five passengers on board, including Pawar, were killed instantly. At 66 years of age, Ajit Pawar had been a towering figure in Maharashtra politics for over four decades. Several political leaders have demanded a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash.
