Jamshedpur, Sept 28: Several isolated areas over Jharkhand are expected to experience light rain and thundershowers today, according to a forecast issued by IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.
An alert of lightning was also issued for some places during the next 24 hours.
A cyclonic circulation was currently prevailing over Gangetic West Bengal and its neighbourhood at 1.5 km above mean sea level.
A cyclonic circulation is likely to emerge over the East-central Bay of Bengal and the adjoining north Andaman Sea off the Myanmar coast around September 29.
Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the East-central Bay of Bengal off the Myanmar coast during the subsequent 24 hours.
Thereafter, it is likely to move northwestwards with the possibility of gradual intensification.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rain was observed at a few places over the state during the past 24 hours as IMD officials said the monsoon activity was normal over the state.
According to Met statistics, the state’s rain deficit as of today stood at 27 per cent.
