Paris, Jan 2: Lionel along with three other Paris Saint-Germain FC (PSG) players have tested positive for Covid, club Paris Saint-Germain announced on Sunday.
The other players to test positive were full-back Juan Bernat, back-up goalkeeper Sergio Rico and teenage midfielder Nathan Bitumazala. In addition to the players, there is also a positive case among the PSG staff.
“They are currently respecting isolation and are subject to the appropriate health protocols,” PSG said.
Argentina international Messi joined PSG from boyhood club Barcelona in August and the 34-year-old has scored six goals in 16 games.
Meanwhile, the club also confirmed that Neymar will continue his treatment in Brazil. His return to training is still expected to be in about three weeks.
Notably, PSG is set to clash with Vannes in the French Cup round of 32 on Tuesday.
