Ranchi, April 9: District administration in Lohardaga has warned owners of the houses falling along the route of the procession to ensure that no pieces of bricks, stones, snares, vials, bottles, inflammable substances be kept on the roof.

Threatening them with proper legal action in case of recovery of any of the said items from their rooftops, the administration said that it is the duty of all to ensure peace during the progress of the Ram Navmi procession and help the administration maintain law and order.

A police official said that the warning fell out of reports sent to state police headquarters about the frequent use of rooftops for pelting stones at procession and crowds.

Like Lohardaga, police officials in Ranchi have also taken several precautionary steps for maintenance of law and order during Ram Navami coinciding with the festival of Ramjan. Apart from flag marches in sensitive areas, the district administration has made a proper arrangement of drone surveillance and deputation of over 5000 additional forces and barricading of some lanes and bylanes to restrict unplanned and unregulated movement of the procession.

In Khunti, organizers have withdrawn their decision to not take out the procession. The development took place after Union Minister Arjun Munda interfered in the matter saying despite FIRs tradition of taking procession will remain intact and following the statement the district administration also promised to harass any people unnecessary on the basis of FIR registered following the dispute over the procession.
