Ahmedabad, July 20: Police reported on Thursday that a high-end luxury car on a flyover near ISKCON temple on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar (SG) Highway caused the deaths of nine people and injuries to a number of others and that the accused driver had been taken to the hospital.
“Last night a Jaguar car killed 9 people and injured 10-11 people. The driver has been admitted to hospital,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Traffic West, Ahmedabad, Nita Desai said.
She stated that the police will detain the driver in accordance with the doctor’s advice.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel noted the accident and granted compensation of Rs. 4 lahks for the surviving family members and Rs. 50,000 for the injured.
Taking to Twitter, CM said, “The accident that happened last night at ISKCON Bridge in Ahmedabad is very sad. I express my heartfelt condolences. The state government has given Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured.”
