Pune, Aug 30: In a fire that started at an electric hardware store in Pimpri Chinchwad’s Purnanagar area in Maharashtra’s Pune district on Wednesday, four members of a family—including two minors—died, fire officials stated.
The individuals who died have been identified as Chimnaram Chowdhary (48), Namrata Chowdhary (40), Bhavesh Chowdhary (15), and Sachin Choudhary (13), an official of the Fire Department of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation stated.
At 5.25 am, a fire broke out in the Pooja Heights building in the Purna Nagar of Chikhli area.
Officials have stated that the bodies of the individuals who were sleeping on the mezzanine floor (an intermediate floor between a building’s main floors) of the shop’s ground floor have been recovered.
They said that the fire had been put out and that the cooling process had begun.
According to preliminary analyses, the fire may have been started by a short circuit. “However, a thorough investigation is underway,” officials said.
The shop was completely destroyed by the fire, officials said.
