Nanded, Oct 3: Hasan Mushrif, the Minister of Medical Education for Maharashtra, announced on Tuesday that a thorough probe into the Nanded hospital, where 31 people, including 12 newborns, lost their lives, would be carried out.

Hasan Mushrif said, “We will carry out a thorough investigation. I have briefed Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis regarding the same. I will visit the hospital and a committee of doctors will be formed.”

Reportedly, lack of medicines at the government-operated Dr. Shankarrao Chavan Medical College and Hospital led to the deaths of at least 31 individuals. There were 24 recorded patient deaths between Saturday and Sunday, and seven more deaths were reported today.

Mushrif mentioned that he had informed and briefed Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis about the situation. He also stated that a committee of doctors will be formed to investigate the matter, which has elicited strong responses from opposition parties.

The leader of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) party, Raj Thackeray, mocked the state’s “three-engine” government, asserting that the “health of the state is on a ventilator.”
